We are more than 300 Georgia lawyers, together with other supporters, who believe in the Rule of Law and support the Constitution. We believe the system of checks and balances devised by our Founders has served our country well for over 235 years and should be vigorously defended. We believe that the Judiciary, as a separate and coequal branch of government, should be independent and nonpartisan. We believe that the judiciary’s role is to interpret and apply our laws and the Constitution, and its rulings must be obeyed for we are “a government of laws, not of men.”

We believe that it is important to stand up for the Rule of Law and to speak out forcefully when it is attacked or undermined by those in power. We support judges and decry unwarranted attacks on them, including threats of impeachment, simply because they have issued rulings unpopular with those in power. We support lawyers and staunchly defend their right and duty to provide representation, without fear of retaliation, to anyone who needs it, even those whose cause may be unpopular and in conflict with the position of the government.
