Todd Blanche has been nominated to be the Attorney General of the United States. We believe that he has demonstrated in many respects that he is unfit to hold the position. When asked this week by Republican Louisiana Senator John Kennedy if he considered President Trump to be his friend, Blanche replied “I’m his lawyer … was his lawyer.” That verbal slip says it all; Todd Blanche thinks his job is to do the bidding of the President. That mindset has led to a series of ethical compromises for Mr. Blanche, ranging from seeking questionable indictments of the President’s political adversaries to the ethically questionable attempt to create a $1.8 billion slush fund with taxpayer money coupled with a blanket immunity from tax investigations for the President, his family, and his companies.
